Application for: Gert Gullentops
Please feel free to comment and interact with the applicant below.
Who? (Tell us about you. Your name, where you work, etc. Anything relevant to the Application.)
My name is Gert Gullentops – probably better known as Gatogordo, or the guy with the cat avatar. I work as a developer, tech lead, architect, .. (whatever you call leading development teams to great Sitecore implementations) for The Reference – a Belgian full service digital agency. Have been working there for almost 20 years now (omg) and introduced Sitecore as a platform in our company in 2005 (that was Sitecore 5).
2017 has been great as I was in a winning Hackathon team and became Sitecore MVP – I am proud to be a member of the amazing Sitecore community. I learned a lot from several people, and was happy to share my knowledge as much as I could.
Why Me? (Here is your chance to explain why people need to vote for you. What contributions have you made to help the community.)
It’s obvious that there are people who contribute more than I do – which is why I hesitated for quite a while to fill in this application. But as I do like to help out the community I thought I should. My (active) contributions to the community depend on the time available after the day job and the 2-kids-job 🙂 – but I do my best to help & share whenever I can.
My blog (https://ggullentops.blogspot.be/) is a few years old now. It’s focused on things I encounter during the job or research that I believe are worth sharing and could help others, and -if I may believe the comments- it does.
When Sitecore started it’s community site, I (https://community.sitecore.net/members/gertgullentops_5f00_1420621776) began helping people there whenever I had time and reached the “Know-it-all II” achievement. I’m sure I don’t know it all, but apparently enough to help others.
I also created an account on StackOverflow (https://stackoverflow.com/users/6144330/gatogordo) although there were enough (or just 1 Polish master brain) people there to help already. I did get a bronze Sitecore badge, but then Sitecore Stack Exchange started. This was -and still is- a great idea and achievement from the community and I’m proud to be in the 5K+ (even 6K now) club: https://sitecore.stackexchange.com/users/237/gatogordo
I have 2 modules on the marketplace: https://marketplace.sitecore.net/Modules/E/EasyLingo & https://marketplace.sitecore.net/Modules/L/Local_Datasources.aspx (all open source on GitHub).
You can also find me on twitter (https://twitter.com/Gatagordo) and Sitecore Slack.
Or at the Belgian User groups which I normally always attend and have presented a few times already (this year on SXA).
Whether I get ‘upgraded’ to “friend” or not, I’ll always be a very proud member of our great Sitecore community!
